Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Bangkok

Arrival in Bangkok, where you will be met by your private driver and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy. Accommodation at Shangri La Hotel.

Day 2 – Bangkok – Kanchanaburi

After early breakfast, you will head with your private guide to Kanchanaburi.

Kanchanaburi is a province to the west of Bangkok, which shares a border with Myanmar. The province covers mountainous terrain, with tropical rain forests, wildlife sanctuaries, waterfalls and the famous River Kwai. Its magnificent landscape and charming beauty resulted in major tourist attraction including caves once inhibited by prehistoric people like Neolithic man. On this tour, your first stop in Kanchanburi will be at the Cemetery of the Allied Prisoners of World War II where you can stroll through a well-kept ground that contains graves of 6,982 Allied Prisoners of War who perished from starvation, overwork, disease and execution during the construction of the “Death Railway” under the control of the Japanese army.

You will then continue to the site of the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, internationally famous, thanks to several motion pictures and books. The black iron bridge was brought from Java by the Japanese army and reassembled by Allied Prisoners of War labour as part of the Death Railway linking Thailand with Myanmar. The bridge was the target of frequent Allied bombing raids during 1945, and was rebuilt after the war ended. The curved spans of the bridge that is in use today are the original sections. Then take a long-tailed boat to the hotel, passing by wild mountains and jungle scenery. Check in on arrival and followed by lunch at hotel.

In the Afternoon, visit to the nearby ethnic Mon Tribal Village (Optional: Elephant Riding through bamboo forest not included). Return to hotel for your dinner and then a 45 minute presentation of traditional “Mon” dances by the villagers.

Accommodation at The Float House River Kwai.

Day 3 – Kanchanaburi – Bangkok

After breakfast at the resort, you will go with your private guide to the Hell Fire-Pass and its Memorial Museum run by Australian government. This is a part of the Death Railway that was constructed during the Second World War using POW labor to cut through the mountain. The site is located in a thick forest. Along a 4-kilometer walking trail made by the Allied prisoners you can envision the difficulties faced in constructing the Death Railway using simple tools. The pass is approximately 500 meters long and 26 meters deep. Then continue to a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch board the original Death Railway train passing over the original wood viaduct to the River Kwai bridge in Kanchanaburi. Return to Bangkok in the evening. Accommodation at Shangri La Hotel.

Day 4 – Bangkok – Bang Pa-In

Today your private guide takes us to Bang Pa-In, the former Royal Summer Residence of King Rama V. This site consists of a quaint mixture of European and Thai architecture. You will have a chance to visit the interior of the old Chinese Wehat Chamrun Palace. Continue by boat to the ancient city of Ayutthaya, the former Thai capital for 417 years and one of Thailand’s major tourist attractions. Many ancient ruins and art works can be seen in the city, which was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong. A total of 33 kings of five dynasties ruled the kingdom until it was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. The UNESCO-listed city includes attractions such as Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch with a three spire pagoda; the large Buddha image of Phra Mongkol Bophit; and Wat Chaiya Mongkol, afterwards return to Bangkok by road. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Accommodation at Shangri La Hotel.

Day 5 – Bangkok

Day at your leisure to explore Bangkok at your own pace or relax at the hotel. Accommodation at Shangri-La Hotel.

Day 6 – Bangkok / Pattaya / Bangkok

Today you will visit Pattaya and Koh Larn with your private guide. At the southeast of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand and only two-hours drive away from the capital lies the thriving beach resort of Pattaya. Once a sleepy fishing village, Pattaya is now one of Thailand’s premier beach resort destinations. The town has high-end shopping malls, accommodation to suit every budget, an abundance of bars and restaurants, and a long stretch of sandy beach. After exploring the city, you will head by boat to Koh Larn. This stunning tropical island, seven-km off the mainland, offers solitude and serenity, pure white sand and translucent water set against a lush green jungle background. You can choose between relaxing on the beach or water sports such as swimming, snorkeling, parasailing and wind surfing. Another option is to enjoy a ride in a glass-bottom boat to view the underwater coral and abundant marine life (activities are optional and not included). A delicious seafood lunch will be served in a beach restaurant. Go back to the hotel at the end of the day. Accommodation at Shangri-La Hotel.

Day 7 – Bangkok

There are countless floating markets throughout Thailand, but the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is the most famous. Situated 110 km from Bangkok in Ratchaburi province, this market is like a trip back in time to the Siam of old. With your private guide, you will see colourfully clad merchants paddle along congested canals in sturdy canoes laden with fresh fruit, vegetables and other foodstuff to sell to shoppers on the canal banks. There is lots of activity and bargaining is part of the fun of the sale. This buzzing market is at its best in the early morning before the crowds arrive and the heat of the day builds up. After visiting the market, you continue onto Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakorn Pathom, reportedly the largest pagoda in South East Asia. The golden-tiled dome of the Chedi towers almost 116-metres into the air. You will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, return to the hotel for the rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation at Shangri La Hotel.

Day 8 – Bangkok Departure

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport for your flight home.
