Day 1 – Arrival in Vienna
On your arrival at the airport, your private driver takes you to your hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure or you can start to explore the city on your own.
Day 2 – Vienna Woods
Today your private guide will show you the most beautiful sights of the southern part of Vienna Woods. Passing the Roman City of Baden which is famous for its thermal springs, you drive through the romantic valley Helenental to the former Mayerling hunting lodge, today a commemorative chapel, where Crown Prince Rudolph together with Baronesse Vetsera died tragically in 1889. In the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz (1133) you visit the medieval cloister which houses the remains of last the Babenberger. Then you pass the Höldrichsmühle and arrive at the Seegrotte. After a boatride on the largest subterranean lake in Europe you leave the Vienna Woods and return to Vienna. Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 3 – Danube Valley Tour
After your breakfast, you will be ready for a full-day excursion with your private guide which will show you the beauty of the Wachau. Through this romantic scenery full of history and legends the Danube winds its way past charming old villages and steep vineyards. The old castles tell us about the former importance of this trade and traffic way, one of them -Dürnstein- especially famous, because here King Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned, while waiting for his ransom to arrive from England, raised by his true minstrel Blondel. During a romantic boat-trip the history comes alive (boat cruise only available from April 18 – October 26, 2016). The heart of the Wachau is the old vine-merchants town Krems. To complete this day of highlights you will visit Melk, the “Cradle of Austria”, the magnificent Benedictine Abbey, a pearl of the Austrian Baroque. The tour includes the entrance fee to the Melk Monastery and a 3-courses lunch in the Restaurant Donauhof in Emmersdorf.
Day 4 – House of Music
Today, your private guide takes you to a musical journey in Vienna’s singular House of Music – in the historical palace of Archduke Karl in the old city center. Observe the great composers, look over their shoulders as they work, confront the greatest musicians of our time, and look at the musical future of computer music. Six floors invite you into the world of the sound and noise phenomena. Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 5 – Vienna to Budapest
Your private driver takes you to the train station for a first class ride to Budapest. On your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. You could enjoy the rest of your day relaxing or starting to explore the city.
Day 6 – City Tour of Budapest
Today, you will enjoy a private city tour of Budapest. You discover the highlights of the Hungarian capital. The Heroes Square, the State Opera House, the Hungarian Parliament, the Royal Palace and the Citadel cannot wait for you to see them. During this private tour you will also enjoy a walk in the Castle District to experience its unique medieval atmosphere and get carried away in history. Go back to your hotel at the end of the morning or you can explore the city on your own.
Day 7 – Budapest to Salzburg
Your private driver takes you to the train station for a first class ride to Salzburg. On your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. You could enjoy the rest of your day relaxing or starting to explore the city.
Day 8 – Sound of Music Tour
This morning, with your private guide, enjoy a wonderful ride with breathtaking views of the landscape where the opening scenes were filmed. Relax and listen to the original Sound of Music soundtrack. Your English-speaking guide not only shows you the highlights of the film ‘Sound of Music’ but also the historical and architectural landmarks in the city, as well as a part of the picturesque lake district. The highlights of the tour are Mirabell Gardens, Leopoldskron Castle, Hellbrunn Castle, Nonnberg Abbey, St Gilgen and Lake St Wolfgang and the Wedding Church Mondsee. Rest of the day at your leisure to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 9 – Mozart City Tour
After your breakfast, enjoy Salzburg, the city of Mozart with your private guide. The Mozart City Tour will show you all of the city’s major attractions as well as a good overview of the city’s architecture and history. Retracing the history of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart you will learn interesting facts about the city’s most famous son. Mozart’s Birthplace in Getreidegasse, the Mozart Residence on Makart Square and the Mozarteum are tour fixtures. After the bus tour, you will visit the newly reopened Mozart Residence, on Makart Square. Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 10 – Departure
After your breakfast, your private driver will take you to the airport for your flight home.
