DESCRIPTION

Arrive in Argentina (Buenos Aires)
After clearing customs and immigration, proceed to the reception area, where our local representative will be holding a board with your name on it. You will be greeted with a “Bienvenidos a Argentina” and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon our guide will pick you up at your hotel and escort you on a three-hour visit of South America's most elegant capital city. You will tour the most important landmarks in the city including Plaza de Mayo Square, Casa Rosada (Government House), the Cabildo (old City Hall), the monumental Congress building and its square, 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest in the world, and the Colon Theatre, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Then learn about the traditions and unique character of Buenos Aires and its inhabitants through a visit to the picturesque Italian neighborhood of Boca, Palermo Park, and the historical Recoleta area and its famous cemetery where Evita Peron is buried.
Mucho Tango (Buenos Aires)
Free morning to explore the city at your own pace or take a river cruise in the delta. This evening we attend a fabulous Tango show in one of the best venues in the world, rounded up with a delightful dinner featuring traditional dishes and excellent Argentinean wines. The Tango has been defined as the most sensual of all dances. The impressive lyrics, traditional instruments and sensuous moves have catapulted it to one of the most admired genres in the world. (B,D)
At leisure (Buenos Aires)
Buenos Aires has always been known as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. It charms its visitors with its unique fusion of modernity and tradition, where sleek skyscrapers coexist with gracious colonial buildings and wide avenues packed with elegant boutiques and chic restaurants contrast with quaint neighborhoods, where tango is still danced in the streets and patrons gather in small cantinas to chatter the evenings away. You have a free day to explore the city on your own, do some shopping, or hang out with Argentinean cowboys during a visit to a traditional ranch in the countryside. (B)
Iguassu: “The Big Water" (Foz do Iguassu)
Iguassu is one of the most impressive natural monuments in the Americas. The roar and grandiosity of the falls contrasts with the tranquility of the surrounding national park, where coatimundis and other small mammals ramble at ease. The spectacle of almost 300 falls precipitating over the Iguassu River forming a myriad of rainbows is a memory to be cherished forever. Upon arrival in Puerto Iguazu, we will depart for the national park. We board a picturesque train for a 30-minute ride through the forest and then walk along several walkways and bridges with a chance to observe the myriad birds and butterflies that abound in the lush surroundings. At the end of the trail is the belvedere overlooking the famous Devil’s Gorge, a thunderous, most impressive fall, which was immortalized in the movie “The Mission”. Later we cross the border with Brazil and walk along the paths, walkways and lookout points specifically arranged to view the famous falls from all possible angles. The tour wraps up with a ride on the special elevator for a unique bird’s eye look at the magnificent spectacle. Drop off at your hotel and overnight. (B)
At leisure! (Foz do Iguassu)
This morning board a helicopter for a short but fascinating flight over Iguassu National Park, a great chance to view the falls from a different perspective and learn where all that water comes from. The rest of the day is free to continue enjoying the wondrous falls. Optional tours include the highly acclaimed Macuco adventure, where you are taken on a special boat to the foot of the falls, a visit to the Birds' Park, or, for adventurous spirits, mountain biking and canopy tours in the forest. (B)
Welcome to the Marvelous City (Rio de Janeiro)
The city that never sleeps, the traditional hangout of the rich and famous, is wedged among famous hills, blessed with miles of world-renown beaches, and surrounded by tropical forests and lagoons. This morning, depart for Rio and catch a first glimpse of the city. Rio also has a pulsing nightlife. Check with the concierge for dinner venues and night entertainment. (B)
Touring the city (Rio de Janeiro)
Rio de Janeiro, the city that never sleeps, the traditional hangout of the rich and famous, is wedged among famous hills, blessed with miles of world-renown beaches, and surrounded by tropical forests and lagoons. We will tour the city and enjoy its beauty from two of its most famous hills: Sugar Loaf, where we arrive after two thrilling cable car rides and Corcovado, where the popular statue of Christ the Redeemer is located. In between visits we will enjoy a traditional lunch and ride along some of Rio's most traditional neighborhoods. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight. (B,L)
At leisure (Rio de Janeiro)
There is so much to do in Rio that we rather have you make your plans for today. You may catch some rays on one of the world-renowned beaches and lunch on fresh seafood, visit the colonial city of Petropolis, join an excursion to Rio’s tropical islands by schooner or even see Rio from the air on an exciting helicopter tour. (B)
The day is up to you. Tonight, Samba of course. (Rio de Janeiro)
One more day to relax or explore. Did you know that Rio is the only city in the world with a rainforest inside the city limits? You may visit the Tijuca Forest on a jeep tour and learn about the Mata Atlantica Forest or sign up for a catamaran cruise around the nearby islands. On a more daring level, you may want to take a look at the mythic Brazilian underworld on a favela tour or see Rio from the air on an exciting helicopter tour. For typical Brazilian handicrafts visit the Hippie Fair (only on Sundays). This evening get ready for traditional Brazilian fanfare as we dine on succulent Brazilian barbecue and later attend a fiery Samba show. (B,D)
Depart Rio de Janeiro
Today our local representative will be transferring you to the airport in Rio in tie for your departure flight. We recommend you extend your trip with a visit to the magical Brazilian Northwest, “The Land of Happiness” or the mighty Amazon. We wish you a pleasant trip back home and hope to enjoy your company in another exciting adventure very soon. (B)
